Our ability to look after you… PDF Print E-mail

We believe that we are only as good as our staff & the way in which we manage them.

We also believe that one of the key factors in successfully operating a Security contract, or any other contract as a service provider, is our ability to look after you properly and make sure that we support you in any eventuality.

To this end, we have created a team of support staff, referred to as the Divisional Support Team or DST. These staff are permanent, salaried & highly trained on a number of our contracts. Their role is to step in & cover their colleagues during times of sickness or holidays. We have found that this system works exceptionally well, as you can be sure that you will get fully trained & ‘up to speed’ replacement staff to complement your regular team.

Our Local Support Network…

Our DST & our regular contracted officers all report to our team of Area Supervisors. These supervisors work 12hr shifts and are available 24 hours per day.

In turn, our Area Supervisors are managed by Operations Managers.

Our team of Operations Managers are managed & supported by our Area Managers.

All staff book on & off at the beginning & end of their shifts & also make their routine check-calls through this system by way of an electronic PIN code.

Recruitment and Screening...

Elite Security UK Limited employs its entire staff on a salaried basis, rather than by the industry-standard hourly rate. This makes us unique in our sector.

This approach has contributed to our staff turnover levels being nearly three times below the industry average. A factor that benefits our customers in three ways:

  • Our customers receive a consistent approach in fulfilling their requirements
  • Savings are made, as initial staff training and recruitment are not required due to the staff being retained for longer
  • On-site knowledge is not lost and good working relationships can flourish

Local Management

Recruitment, employment and disciplinary matters are in the hands of the Regional HR Manager. Initial interviews for applicants are carried out in Area Offices by experienced and trained recruitment staff with second interviews Being conducted by Operations Managers. The process is designed to assess and test the suitability of personnel for employment at a specific site and for a specific customer.

Recruitment and Eliteion

Our staff is recruited according to our customer’s specific needs. This means they may be recruited from the armed forces, or from other specialist areas where there is a need for staff to demonstrate immediate experience and skills in: facility management, facilities support, health & safety and remote monitoring.

We view every member of staff as an ambassador for Elite Security UK Limited and the Company to whom they are assigned to provide our services. Therefore, customers who wish to employ our staff direct, or under contract through Elite Security UK Limited, are always encouraged to interview the staff before their final Eliteion.

TUPE

Managing staff transfers under TUPE require careful handling and time, as staff need to be interviewed and encouraged to transfer.
There are four main stages to the transfer process:

Prior to contract
Full employment details including any pending litigation or liabilities needs to be obtained from the current employer

At contract award

Elite Security UK Limited and the customer agree the announcement to staff

After announcement

A detailed information pack is issued by Elite Security UK Limited to each individual, with a covering letter of welcome from senior management. Arrange individual interviews with affected staff

Induction for transferring staff

Existing staff will be assessed and where they do not meet the required standards, their training needs will be identified.

Staff Screening…

Elite Security UK Limited screening procedures are amongst the most rigorous in the industry, with all potential staff required to pass two stages of screening:

  • Five year screening undertaken by Elite Security UK Limited by telephone
  • Ten year screening undertaken by external specialists in writing

Together, this system meets the BS7858 and ISO9000 standards.

Screening Procedure

The screening procedure begins as soon as an applicant’s details are received. An initial telephone screen is carried out and where this proves to be less than totally satisfactory, the application does not progress.

For accepted applications the initial telephone screening is followed by full written confirmation of all verbal references. This is cross-referenced thoroughly in order that the authenticity of the referee can be verified and the quality of the reference corroborated.

Elite Security UK Limited insists on the highest quality of referees throughout, to ensure that the integrity of the screening process is maintained. This part of the process has been outsourced to Nova Risk Management to provide independent scrutiny. Screened histories can be made available to our customers if required.

Interview

Once the initial screening process is successful, the applicant is invited to attend an initial assessment interview. If this is satisfactory, a second interview will take place with the relevant Operations Manager. Applicants are informed in writing on the outcome of their interview and, if they reach the required standard in all respects, will be invited to attend Elite Security UK Limited Induction Training Course.

Induction

The screening procedure continues during Elite Security UK Limited Induction Training Course. Applicants are fully screened, to a minimum of 10 years and up to periods of 20 years or more where required for specific sites. In the case of former members of the armed services, screening can normally be completed swiftly, which is advantageous to many of our customers.

Staff Retention…

Elite Security UK Limited has one of the best levels of staff retention in the UK Security Industry, due to its unique pay and employment conditions, recruitment vetting, training and overall management approach.

Where possible, our staff are trained in multi-disciplines to help them maintain motivation, stimulate interest and encourage the generation of new ideas to improve our customer service.

All our customers approve the proposed team of staff before the contract starts. This helps us ensure the abilities and personalities of our staff are matched to the individual requirements of the customer and the site.

Successful applicants are contracted to work for the client on a salaried basis, rather than an hourly basis. This approach, which is unique to Elite Security UK Limited, provides our staff with the stability of a known regular income.

A full list of staff benefits is outlined in our staff handbook and a copy can be provided on request.
